How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Use the feedback sheet to improve the content of your Question 2 evaluation but here are some key tips to consider.
In this question you need to evaluate the sense of 'branding' you've created across your products. Once again you need to use a range of technologies to present your work.
Pick out the elements you've chosen to carry across you work and explain why you feel these best represent your 'artist'.
Think about those elements which you've not included, briefly explain why you chose not to include them.
Some vocabulary to include:
Verisimilitude - the appearance of being true or real.Mediated - be a means of conveying: "this important ministry of mediating the power of the word".
Synonyms: convey, transmit, communicate, put across/over, impart, pass on, hand on, relate, reveal, form a link between.
Connotes - imply or suggest (an idea or feeling) in addition to the literal or primary meaning.
Motif - a dominant or recurring idea in an artistic work
Brand - a type of product manufactured by a particular company under a particular name
Generic Conventions - are the features shown by texts that allow them to be put into a specific genre.
Code - a system of signs which can be decoded to create meaning.
In media texts, we look at a range of different signs that can be loosely grouped into the following:
Technical codes - all to do with the way a text is technically constructed - camera angles, framing, typography etc.
Verbal codes - everything to do with language - either written or spoken.
Symbolic codes - codes that can be decoded on a mainly connotational level - all the things which draw upon our experience and understanding of other media texts, our cultural frame of reference.
